e-Health for a Leapfrogging Asia and Pacific: Challenges and Opportunities

e-Health has been evolving rapidly around the world. Various e-health initiatives and policies have been put in place to address challenges of providing universal health care and improving the quality of health care services in a cost efficient manner. This paper aims to provide a broad overview of e-health development in Asia and the Pacific and what could be done to promote better health through e-health among developing countries. Based on the assessment, four characteristics on the e-health development in the region were identified and the concept of the national health information infrastructure which connects all the key stakeholders is proposed.
