Our strategic vision...
to be a centre of excellence in assisting ESCAP members and associate members in the Asia-Pacific region in narrowing the digital divide and in achieving a knowledge-based society.

Our focus is placed on
- Promotion of the use of information, communication and space technology to achieve the goals contained in the Millennium Development Goals, including poverty alleviation, improved opportunity for education, improved health, and empowerment of women
- provision of assistance to ESCAP members and associate members in implementation of the Action Plan and the Declaration of Principles of WSIS, and measure their progress towards the information society
- Research and analytical studies on the enabling policy,
regulatory and legal environment conductive to ICT development
and its socio-economic benefits in the Asia-Pacific region.
- Integration of space technology and ICT for sustainable
development, including disaster management, poverty mapping
and provision of access to ICT to remote areas through satellite
communications technology;
- Promotion of the establishment of regional/sub-regional
institutions in support of national efforts in capacity building
in ICT development and applications;
- Developing strategic partnerships with stakeholders, including
those with private-public sectors and the donor community.
