Call for Papers
The Information, Communication and Space Technology Division of UNESCAP is preparing its annual Asia-Pacific Journal on Information, Communication and Space Technology, to be published by the end of 2007. The Journal aims to highlight emerging trends and issues related to information, communication and space technology (ICST) for development and contribute to the promotion of an inclusive, people-centered information society in Asia and the Pacific.
For this edition, the division is seeking contribution in the form of original papers, related to ICST - ICT strengthened by space technology for content and infrastructure - and showing evidenced ICST impacts on economic development in Asia and the Pacific.
Some suggested topics
Within this overall framework, ICSTD is soliciting papers on the below topics:
- ICST Infrastructure development, including National Data Infrastructure as part of Regional Data Infrastructure
- Best practices and lessons learned in ICST for economic development
- ICST Policies issues
- ICST Applications
- Role of ICST for Regional Integration
- Mobile Commerce
- The Knowledge Economy Development
- Web 2.0 based Content Development
- Open source and proprietary software models for Asian-Pacific development
- Hardware/software architectures to enable Asian languages and written scripts
- Emerging trends in ICST
The journal will be published online on the UNESCAP website, accessible to everyone. Each author will retain the ownership of the copyright. (with UNESCAP only requesting non-exclusive publication rights).
Timeline
Paper submission: 26 October 2007
Peer review period: November 2007
Final version submission: 14 December 2007
Submissions are to be made electronically to escap-icstd@un.org.
Format
In English, 4000 words maximum in ODF or Microsoft Word doc file format. The content will be reformatted for web publications.
