The National Workshop on Capacity Building in Public Policy Issues of Internet Use for Business Development was held from 15 to 16 March 2007 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The Workshop was organized by the Science Technology and Environment Agency (STEA) of Lao PDR, UNESCAP in close cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Development Information Programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-APDIP)
The Workshop was attended by representatives/officials of Government sector, private sector and civil society in Lao PDR and international organizations. Altogether 36 participants participated in the Workshop.
The main objective of the Workshop was to use a set of training modules on the use of Internet for business development developed by the regional workshop and improved after they were presented in a national workshop in Nepal, that aims
- to serve as a policy making reference, for ICT and Internet policy makers and implementers of public policy issues of Internet governance in developing countries and countries with economies in transition in Asia and the Pacific,
- to build/enhance capacity of the participants of the national workshop,
- and also to field test the modules for their further improvement and make them more user friendly and practicable.
