High-level Expert Group Meeting on Technical Options for Disaster Management Systems: Tsunamis and Others

Objectives
The objectives of the meeting is to promote regional cooperation and networking for natural disasters management in the region and to improve national capacities in disaster prevention, monitoring, mitigation and overall preparedness and response. The High Level Expert Group Meeting is to discuss:

• Among technical experts, early warning systems for tsunami and other major disasters;
• Among disaster management policymakers and their key technical and planning advisors, issues related to:
• Current technical components used in tsunami early warning systems;
• Technical and related management options for optimizing such systems towards more cost-effective multi-hazard ones;
• Available technical systems used for other disasters, including possible common components for tsunami warning systems; and
• Technical options and international cooperation resources supporting multi-hazard and multi-nodal approaches to tsunami and other disasters.
