Project title:
Application Service Provider Portal for Greater Mekong Sub region SMEs.
Project objective:
The objective is to engage SMEs in Thailand and Yunnan Province in e-business activities through the use of the e-business module on the GMSEB portal.
Project brief:
Yunnan SME Bureau is developing the portal GMSEB, which offer an ASP service that allows customers to create a complex online e-business interface that has the possibility to link into the SMEs product database as well as human resource management. The services are planned to be available in all the six participating GMS country languages as well as in English, but within the time frame of the UN ESCAP project, the Thai and English versions will be developed. The Chinese version is already in use.
Who manages the project?
Yunnan SME Bureau, Yuninfo Co. Ltd., in collaboration with the ICT Applications Section/Information, Communication and Space Technology Division of UNESCAP.
Target Groups
The target group for the pilot project is SMEs in Thailand and Yunnan Province , China . The buyers – potentially from all over the globe – are also important to consider in the development of the web site.
Launching Event
The regional seminar on informatization of SMEs and launching ceremony of e-business platform
for SMEs in the GMS countries was held in Kunming, Yunnan Province of China, on 20 and 21 July 2006.
The seminar was attended by 49 participants from various enterprise supporting agencies and SMEs,
including government agencies, chambers of commerce and delegates from the GMS countries.
It was organized as the launching event of the e-business web portal for SMEs in the GMS countries (GMSEB)
developed by Yunnan SME Bureau on a pilot basis with support from UNESCAP. This web portal was developed as
one of many activities of the UNESCAP project entitled “Development of e-business
development services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in selected ASEAN countries
and Southern China”. |
