APEC Forum on Digital Economy for Women 2006: Innovation and
Leadership in Asia-Pacific, 15 December 2006, Bangkok, Thailand
With the growth of E-Commerce, Digital Economy is thriving
world-wide. Women constitute over half of online consumers in
Asia-Pacific Region. Yet, only small percentage of women business
owners in Asia-Pacific takes on the opportunities to participate in
expanding their business through the Internet.
“APEC Forum on Digital Economy for Women 2006: Innovation and
Leadership in Asia and the Pacific” is organized a part of the
"Initiative for APEC Women's Participation in the Digital Economy"
in order to promote Internet-based commercial opportunities for
women entrepreneurs in APEC region. The expected outcomes are: the
expansion of knowledge, skills and competencies in e-business;
creation of new business opportunities; and a business network
amongst women entrepreneurs, managers at all levels. Similar forum
has been organized in several countries in APEC economies.
This forum in Bangkok is organized to promote capacity building in
Thailand with support of International Federation of Business and
Professional Women (BPW International), United Nations Economic and
Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Ministry of
Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) of Korea and Sookmyung Women’s
University APEC Electronic Commerce Steering Group (APEC ECSG) and
APEC Gender Focal Points Network (GFPN).
