ICT Applications section has defined
e-government as one of its priority areas of work. Through
e-government, better services can be offered to citizens and
constituencies as a means for increased transparency and improved
efficiency and as a means to empower citizens towards an improved
participation in the policy making process. It supported the
secretariat's efforts in capacity building in this application.
The goal of this focus area is towards improved application and
promotion of ICT by governments and stakeholders in planning and
implementing socio-economic development policies and programmes.
