Community Information Centers Project

Country: Cambodia
Detailed location: Kampong Som • Kampong Cham • Pursat • Pailin • Banteay Meanchey
Mission: providing greater access to news and information on a range of topics including human rights, the July 2003 national election, economic development, small businesses, education, and health for Cambodian citizens in the provinces outside of Phnom Penh. Second, the project has established a communication network to allow NGOs, political parties, government officials, and development organizations to increase information sharing, communication, and collaboration between provincial and headquarters offices, and between organizations. By providing local-language email, free email accounts, and training on the basics of using email, we are allowing many organizations to regularly communicate with their provincial offices for the first time.
