VANUATU
Vanuatu focuses on remote sensing, GIS and satellite
meteorology applications. The lead agency in the country
with respect to remote sensing and GIS activities is the
Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. Use is made of
available remote sensing data and GIS in various natural
resource and environmental studies, forest mapping and inventorying
and topographic mapping in the country. Data from meteorological
and environmental satellites, like the NOAA series, are
used for weather forecasting and for environmental management
activities. The Department of Meteorology, which functions
under the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, is responsible
for weather forecasting and monitoring activities. |
