LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
Remote sensing and GIS technologies are used by various
agencies to manage the natural resources and environment
of the country. The National Agriculture and Forestry Research
Institute (NAFRI) extensively uses remote sensing and GIS
to carry out technical research activities on agriculture,
forestry, meteorology and hydrology, in order to provide
related information for agriculture and forestry development
planning and optimize land use planning at the national
level as well as the provincial level. In 1987, the National
Forest Inventory and Planning project, using SPOT images
was carried out. In 1992, a forest cover map throughout
the country was generated using Landsat images. |
