BANGLADESH
The Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO),
established in 1980, executes the Bangladesh space programme.
A national policy-making committee involving various ministries,
departments and universities was set up after the first
Ministerial Conference to advise on the national space application
programme. Remote sensing is the mainstay of the national
space programme, in view of its great relevance to the needs
of the country.
The Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board has been operating
all the satellite communication systems in the country.
A distance education programme has been implemented as a
regular programme of the Bangladesh Open University. Information
superhighway links are also being established to make use
of modern communication media. |
