The Intergovernmental
Consultative Committee (ICC) on the Regional Space Applications
Programme for Sustainable Development in Asia and the
Pacific (RESAP) was first convened in 1995 as a reconstituted
body of the ICC on Regional Remote Sensing Programme of
the UNDP-funded project on remote sensing and GIS applications. The
current ICC now forms an integral part of the three-tier
network mechanism and is the guiding body of the Regional
Space Applications Programme for Sustainable Development
(RESAP). The major objective of ICC on RESAP is to provide
ESCAP with policy and technical advice for the most effective
use of space-based technologies and applications for achieving
sustainable development of the region.
The Governments that are members or associate members
of ESCAP are eligible to participate in the ICC on RESAP.
National Focal Points are designated through formal credentials
from Governments for participation in the ICC sessions.
The ICC meets annually to advise the ESCAP secretariat
on matters related to the implementation of RESAP including
recommendations on the work plan of the Programme.
