| The objective of the Section is
to assist ESCAP
members and associate members to address economic and social
challenges and to participate effectively in the global economy and
information society, through knowledge networking and capacity
building programmes. The Section promotes the use of ICT that
contributes to economic and social development. The Section’s
activities focus on key ICT applications identified in
the
Plan of Action of the first phase of
WSIS and
the Tokyo Declaration such as e-governance, e-business,
knowledge sharing, rural ICT services, e-health, and distance
education. The section also supports the activities of
APCTT and
APCICT. |
