Workshop on Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asian and Pacific Cities
ESCAP will host the “Workshop Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asian and Pacific Cities” on 30 November – 1 December 2016 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.
Building upon the outcomes of the third session of the Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD-3), the sixth Asian Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-6) and the Seoul International Forum on Urban Policy for the SDGs, the Workshop will bring together local and national government representatives and other key stakeholders to discuss the centrality of cities for achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Workshop will facilitate dialogue on the opportunities for collaborative action and knowledge sharing in support of localization of the 2030 Agenda, and will showcase examples of urban policies and innovative initiatives already being undertaken by cities on various areas related to the SDGs. At the workshop, ESCAP will also launch the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform which is being developed jointly with Seoul Metropolitan Government and CityNet, with the aim to promote and support regional knowledge sharing and cooperation for sustainable development.
The Workshop will be held during “ESCAP SDG Week” which will take place from Monday 28 November to Friday 02 December 2016 and is dedicated to generating knowledge around the key challenges for effective implementation of the SDGs.
