WIPO/ESCAP/UNEP Workshop on the Environmentally Safe Disposal of IP Infringing Goods

The disposal of Intellectual Property (IP) infringing goods can often present particular environmental challenges. For instance, the composition of the goods may be unknown leading to uncertainties over correct disposal methods. The Workshop on the Environmentally Safe Disposal of IP Infringing Goods aims at guiding relevant government officials on utilizing and formulating appropriate policy measures for the safe disposal of. ESCAP will host the Workshop together with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The Workshop will explore both existing international norms and national legislation concerning intellectual property rights alongside the legislative and practical frameworks for the environmentally safe disposal of IP infringing goods. It will assist countries in establishing harmonized rules and norms to address the economic and environmental aspects of the problem.
