Date:
18 Mar 2014 to 20 Mar 2014
Location:
Malé, Maldives

In response to the advisory service request by the Government of Maldives, ESCAP in cooperation with Ministry of Economic Development and Maldives Customs Service are organizing a Training of Analysts on Business Process Analysis (BPA) for Single Window Environment in Maldives. This Training will support building baseline capacity for future implementation of paperless trade and Single Window projects. To improve the efficiency and effectiveness of trade processes and information flow throughout the supply chain, it is crucial that the existing “as-is” conditions are well understood, prior to implementing trade facilitation reforms such as a Single Window. The purpose of BPA training is to facilitate the analysis of “as-is” conditions and development of recommendations, or "to-be" conditions, for improving trade processes and information flow.

In the training, the participants will learn about: (1) the important role of business process analysis in business process simplification, data harmonization, and Single Window implementation; (2) selected graphical notations based on a standardized modeling language for business process modeling; and (3) a step-by-step approach to business process analysis and development of recommendations for future improvement.

The participants will have an opportunity to apply their gained skills to conduct Mini-BPA on selected products during the training.
