Subregional Seminar on the Prospective Benefits of Membership in the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) for Pacific Island Countries

Date:
15 May 2014 to 17 May 2014
Location:
Nadi, Fiji

The TID-APTA Secretariat is organizing a Subregional Seminar on the Prospective Benefits of Membership in APTA for Pacific Island Countries, in collaboration with the Pacific Island Countries Trade Agreement (PICTA) of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) and the University of the South Pacific based in Fiji. The Seminar is being organized back-to-back with a WTO-PIFS Trade Facilitation Agreement Needs Assessment and Implementation Workshop for Pacific Islands WTO Members. As the APTA is the only bridge which could link the Pacific with Asia for promoting and enhancing interregional trade, investment and technology flows, the Seminar event jointly organized by the Secretariats of ESCAP and PICTA/PIF is expected to be an important milestone in Asia-Pacific trade and economic partnership.
