Sub-regional Advocacy Workshop on MDGs for Central Asia
Objectives of the sub-regional advocacy workshop: ESCAP/ADB/UNDP Regional Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Partnership will organize the Sub-regional Advocacy-cum-consultation Workshop on MDGs and post-2015 for Central Asia in Almaty, Kazakhstan from 9 to 11 September 2014. This workshop constitutes the advocacy for work that has been carried out by the three partners in support of accelerated achievement of the MDGs in Asia and the Pacific region. It also aims to draw from multi-stake holder consultations for readiness to address implementation challenges for a post-2015 development agenda.
The key objectives of the sub-regional advocacy workshop to be organized in Almaty are as follows:
(a) To disseminate the key findings and messages of the publication, Asia-Pacific Aspirations: Perspectives for a Post-2015 Development Agenda with a particular focus on the progress achieved by the countries in Central Asia;
(b) To discuss some of the critical implementation issues in realizing the post-2015 development agenda and sustainable development goals and how regional and global cooperation could support the implementation of a post 2015 Development Agenda in Asia-Pacific. Implementation issues to be addressed in this workshop include financing the post-2015 development agenda, technology, innovations and trade facilitation, and data and information in realizing the vision of a transformative agenda.
