Strengthening Railway Transport Connectivity in South and South-West Asia
As part of the continuing work of the United Nations ESCAP on regional connectivity, the meeting on Strengthening Railway Transport Connectivity in South and South-West Asia is being organized and will be held on 15-16 March 2017 at the Shangri-La Hotel, New Delhi . The meeting has been organized in collaboration with the Organisation for Co-operation between Railways (OSJD) based in Warsaw and the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.
The objectives of the meeting are to:
a) Share current initiatives and proposed measures for the development of cross-border railway transport among South and South-West Asian (SSWA) countries;
b) Enhance the understanding of the instruments of OSJD to support international railway transport operations;
c) Inform participants about the work of ESCAP and related organizations in the field of railway transport; and
d) Discuss and agree on further steps for strengthening railway transport among the countries of South and South-West Asia (SSWA).
