Regional Workshop to Support Gender Mainstreaming and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Asia and the Pacific
The Regional Workshop to Support Gender Mainstreaming and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Asia and the Pacific was held from 19 to 21 February 2014 in Bali, Indonesia. The Workshop was organized by ESCAP in cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection.
The Workshop provided an opportunity for regional exchange of knowledge and lessons learned from good practices regarding successful approaches to promoting the economic empowerment of women, as well as gender mainstreaming in development planning, in particular, gender-responsive budgeting.
Objectives of the Workshop:
- To enhance the knowledge and skills of participants in mainstreaming gender into economic and social policies, plans and programmes through South-South exchange; and
- To identify and promote successful strategies and good practices for mainstreaming gender and women’s economic empowerment in the Asia-Pacific region.
