Regional Forum on Gender-responsive Budgeting in Asia and the Pacific

ESCAP organised the Preparatory Workshop on Advancing Gender-responsive Budgeting in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam on 17 July 2017, and the Regional Forum on Gender-responsive Budgeting in Asia and the Pacific on 18-19 July 2017 in Bangkok. The key outcomes of the meetings included: i) increased momentum in the advocacy on the importance of gender responsive budgeting in Asia and the Pacific by sharing experiences from across the region; ii) identification of key recommendations to strengthen the application of gender-responsive budgeting in national contexts; and iii) enhanced dialogue and partnerships around sustainable financing for achieving gender equality and the 2030 Agenda. The meetings brought together over 50 senior government officials from national women’s machineries, Ministries of Finance, Planning and various line ministries of 18 countries who have been and will be involved in implementing gender-responsive budgeting.
