International Conference on Transboundary Air Pollution

ESCAP East and North-East Asia Office, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea, and Korea Environment Institute (KEI), co-organized the International Conference on Transboundary Air Pollution from 5-6 December 2017 in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The Conference reviewed the impact of transboundary air pollution and the existing efforts made in different regions, while seeking for new cooperative measures. Its main objectives were: strengthening mutual understanding among participants on the impact of transboundary air pollution; sharing best practices among neighboring countries in Northeast Asia; nurturing progress in building up a common ground for regional efforts on reducing transnational air pollutants; as well as reviewing and building on the previous works of authoritative international organizations such as UNECE on transboundary air pollution.
