The Fifth Meeting of the Steering Group for the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics (SGRPES) was followed after the seminar component of the First Asia-Pacific Economic Statistics Week on 5-6 May 2016. 

The objectives of the fifth meeting were:

  • To outline RPES implementation activities nearing the milestone year of 2017;
  • To discuss the second round of the Capacity Screening exercise;
  • To discuss the SGRPES report to the Committee of Statistics during its fifth session;
  • To discuss the contribution of future Asia-Pacific Economic Statistics Week events to RPES implementation;
  • To review and discuss the function of SGRPES.
