Expert Group Meeting on Capacity Development for Disaster Information Management in South and South West Asia
The Expert Group Meeting on Capacity Development for Disaster Information Management in South and South West Asia, held on 16-17 April 2014 in New Delhi, aims to identify the critical gaps in disaster information supply chains and the related institutional and policy issues in South and South-West Asia. The meeting discusses opportunities for capacity development through regional cooperation and South-South cooperation to narrow down the existing gaps in disaster information management through the sharing of information and exchange of good practices and promotes collaboration in the pursuit of building resilience to natural disasters in the subregion. The meeting provides an intergovernmental platform for key stakeholders from South and South-West Asian member States to understand, interact and assess the proposed programme of work put forward by the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) following ESCAP resolution 67/4 adopted by the Commission at its 67th session. The meeting is organized by the Information and Communications Technology and Disaster Risk Reduction Division of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the ESCAP South and South-West Asia Office.
