Capacity-Building Workshop on Model Contract for Dry Port Development through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)
Recognizing the investment requirements in transport in the region, the ESCAP Secretariat has been implementing a project to assist selected countries in building capacity and facilitating private sector involvement for infrastructure development. As part of this project, the ESCAP secretariat will be conducting a “Capacity-Building Workshop on Model Contract for Dry Port Development through Public-Private Partnerships” at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok from 24 to 26 May 2016.
The objective of the workshop is to enhance the capacity of government officials in developing dry ports through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). The ESCAP-brokered Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports has given new prominence to the benefits of dry ports and brought renewed momentum to their establishment in many countries of the region. As dry port development projects lend themselves well to the PPP mechanism, the workshop aims at supporting government officials in approaching this type of projects. In particular, model contract provisions for dry port PPP projects will be presented during the workshop.
