Building E-Resilience through ICTs and Space Technology

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) was organizing an Expert Group Meeting on Building E-Resilience through ICT and Space Technology.

The meeting took place from 9:00 to 12:00 on 20 November 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand, and will immediately precede the opening of the Third Session of the ESCAP Committee on Information and Communications Technology (CICT-3).

The objective of the meeting is to review best practices in using ICT connectivity and space technology for the resilient development of the Asia-Pacific region, and will include updates since the ESCAP Expert Consultation held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 5-6 September 2012. The first session of the meeting will be dedicated to "Regional connectivity and emerging technological innovations for the knowledge society", and the second session will focus on "Regional cooperation on geospatial information management for disaster risk reduction and sustainable development".
