Date:
6 May 2014
Location:
Luang Prabang, Lao People's Democratic Republic

This workshop will raise awareness in Lao Peoples' Democratic Republic on the changing economic and business environment as a result of multilateral and regional trade and investment liberalization, particularly in the context of the ASEAN Economic Community. Participants will include government officials, academics, civil society, and private sector representatives.

ESCAP works with member States, and particularly the least developed and landlocked countries, so that they can benefit from the multilateral and regional trading systems. In collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and the Institute of Trade and Development, Thailand, ESCAP is delivering technical cooperation and capacity building programmes on the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) for ASEAN members States with LDC status. In 2013, workshops were delivered in Lao PDR and Myanmar. Following the success of those events, ESCAP and partners have been requested by Lao PDR to deliver the workshops in other provinces this year.
