ASEAN Regional Workshop on Standardization of Methodologies for Multi-hazard Risk Assessment and Integration of Satellite Imageries for Rapid Assessment of Post-disaster Damage and Losses

7 Dec 2016 to 9 Dec 2016
Sriracha, Chonburi Province, Thailand

The purpose of the workshop is to work with ASEAN countries to provide innovative solution for the entire disaster management cycle, for example, multi-hazard risk assessment and modelling, Earth Observation (EO) for emergency response and rapid disaster impact and damage assessment. The workshop will build on the ASEAN-UN Joint Strategic Plan of Action on Disaster Management, specifically building on the Risk Awareness and Assessment pillar which ESCAP has been tasked to lead. Additionally, the development of guidelines from previous ASEAN meetings held from 2014 to 2016 in collaboration with the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) and the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre).
