ESCAP, in cooperation with the Institute for Societal Leadership and in partnership with the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women initiative, organised the ASEAN Forum “Fostering Women’s Entrepreneurship: Transforming Prospects, Transforming Societies” at the Singapore Management University on 9 June 2017. The Forum discussed critical constraints facing women entrepreneurs in the context of the ASEAN Economic Community and proposed key recommendations, such as ensuring greater access to, and use of innovative technologies; promoting creative approaches to accessing finance and credit services; as well as creating an enabling legal and policy environment. The Forum brought together close to 100 participants from eight ASEAN countries, including representatives from national women’s machineries, SME agencies, civil society, development partners and the private sector. ESCAP also launched its report on women's entrepreneurship in ASEAN at the Forum.
