Community-based Drug Demand Reduction: Report of Five Demonstration Projects: [ST/ESCAP/1552]
This report presents the results of a regional project on the development of integrated community-based approaches to drug demand reduction executed by the Social Development Division. The ESCAP secretariat developed the project in response to numerous requests for assistance from members and associate members interested in developing and executing workable approaches to drug demand reduction, following an earlier ESCAP project on the development of programmes for drug abuse prevention. This project was implemented in five countries of the region, China, India, Nepal, the Philippines and Thailand.

This report reviews the national situation in each of the participating countries, describes the project activities and implementation process in each of those countries, and reviews the effectiveness of project implementation. It is hoped that the report will provide guidance to the planners and implementers of programmes aimed at reducing drug demand.
