Lamphun is some 670 kilometers from Bangkok and only 26 kilometers from Chiang Mai.  Located on the bank of the Kuang River,  it is administratively divided into 7 districts and 1 sub-district: Maung Lamphun, Mae Tha, Ban Hong, Li, Pa Sang, Thung Hau Chang, Ban Thi and Wiang Nong Lang sub district.
