Text:

Population planning is also an integral part of manpower planning. It is now the firm policy of the Royal Thai Government to support voluntary family planning as a means of containing the growth of population to a rate which is commensurate with the employment potential of the country and which will allow the Government to develop adequate education, health and other services. The objective is to bring the annual population growth rate down from its present level of 3.0 per cent to approximately 2.5 per cent by the end of the Plan period. Economic and social development plans during the Plan period are based on the attainment of this population growth target.
