(c)   Mother and Child Care: There are present three mother and child care centres at Yala, Khon Kaen and Ratchaburi, and two midwife school at Lampang and Vachira Hospital which can train 460 midwives per year.

During the Plan period, the expansion of mother and child health services will be continued in an effort to reduce mother and children mortality rates. The construction of the mother and child health centre at Chiang Mai will be completed, and new mother and child health centres will be built at Chon Buri and at Muang Phon. Moreover, 2,450 midwives will be trained during the Plan period, training of 250 nurses will be financed by the Health Department, as well as refresher training for 200 midwives annually.

Mother and child health centres will be able to offer various services to 35,000 pregnant women, make 9,700 deliveries, and 21,000 medical examinations of children.
