1972-1976 Source: Office of the Prime Minister, National Economic and Social Development Board, Bangkok, Thailand Subject: family planning programmes, contraceptives, population growth rate
Text: (b) Family Planning Project: Family planning will be promoted by providing information and assistance to those who request it. It is hoped that by the end of 1976 the population growth rate will be reduced to 2.5 per cent per annum from the present growth rate of 3.1 per cent, which is an obstacle to the socio-economic development of the country. Family planning programmes include distribution of contraceptive pills and IUD devices, and sterilization. During 1972-1976 services in 71 provinces will reach an average of 370,000 persons, as well as offer maintenance services to 500,000 on the average. Approximately 10 studies and surveys of family planning will also be conducted. These services will be provided through 84 provincial hospitals, 4 mother and child care centres, 43 provincial health centres, 157 first class health centres (doctor on the staff) and by 3,254 other institutions.
