AN ACT

TO AMEND THE MAINTENANCE AND AFFILIATION ACT

[21st March 1986]

ENACTED by the Parliament of Fiji-

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Maintenance and Affiliation (Amendment) Act, 1986

Interpretation

2. In this Act, "principal act" means the Maintenance and Affiliation Act.

Powers of Magistrates on hearing of complaint
(Amendment of section 18)

3. Section 18 of the principal Act is amended-

(a) by deleting from paragraph (a) of subsection (2) the words "not exceeding five hundred and twenty dollars"; and

(b) by deleting from subsection (4) the words "not exceeding two thousand six hundred dollars".

Variation of order
(Amendment of section 20)

4. Section 20 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words "but the amount shall in no case exceed the maximum sum provided in paragraph (a) of subsection 2 of section 18".
