Chapter 3 Healthy Childbirth and Birth Control

Article 11 Couples of childbearing age shall receive instructions on healthy childbirth and childrearing. Pregnant women shall receive prenatal health check-ups. No organizations or individuals shall perform sex identification of fetus except for couples who have been diagnosed of genetic diseases.

Couples (both parties or either party) who have been identified by medical or health institutions above county level to have diseases that might cause serious defects or genetic diseases to fetus, shall not have a child. Those who are already pregnant shall terminate pregnancy and take effective contraceptive measures.

Family-planning related technical certification shall be handled by family planning authorities above county level in compliance with relevant regulations.
