THE
FIRST intergovernmental meeting on health & development
in the ESCAP region
-
ESCAP's Subcommittee on Health and Development,
met in Bangkok during 1 - 3 December 2004. The meeting addressed the serious
development implications of the emerging double burden
of communicable and non-communicable diseases in the
region. It adopted a regional framework
for strategic action to tackle the social, economic
and environmental determinants of health. The regional framework provides a template for
converging multisectoral action
for health and sustainable development. More
