UNESCAP and UNAIDS Expert Group Meeting on "Progress on International Commitments to Combat HIV/AIDS in the Asian and Pacific Region"

UNESCAP and UNAIDS are jointly organizing the above expert group meeting to identify common challenges in the Asia-Pacific region with regard to HIV/AIDS, and to produce concrete recommendations ahead of the UN High Level Meeting on AIDS to be held on 10-11 June 2008, where progress with regard to Universal Access and achievement of commitments made under two UN General Assembly Resolutions – the Declaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS adopted in 2001 and the Political Declaration on HIV/AIDS of the High Level Meeting of 2 June 2006, as well as the ESCAP Resolution on regional action adopted at its 59th Commission Session in 2003, will be discussed.
