Youth Monographs
UNESCAP has produced four youth monographs on the
youth situation, policy and programmes in the Philippines,
Thailand, Viet Nam and Malaysia as part of a project
entitled "Capacity-building in HRD Policy-making
for Youth in Asia and the Pacific", implemented
in collaboration with Queens University, Canada.
Youth Policy
Formulation Manual
UNESCAP has produced this Youth Policy Formulation
Manual, which draws upon best practices of countries
within the Asia-Pacific region already engaged in
the youth policy formulation process, and provides
guidelines for countries taking the first steps in
the formation of a national youth policy. The Manual
is also a useful resource for policy makers interested
in reviewing and building upon their previous formulation
initiatives, as the case studies included in the Manual
provide a solid basis for comparing and evaluating
existing structures.
National Youth
Policies: An Overview
A questionnaire survey undertaken by UNESCAP focused,
among other things, on the current status of youth
policies and their implementation among the countries
and areas of the region. Here are some results of
the survey.
Assessment of
National Youth Policies
We have reviewed the experience in the formulation
and implementation of youth policies in the region
and draws lessons for the development of more effective
youth policies in the coming years.
Setting Up A Youth
Policy in Malaysia
Malaysia announced the first National Youth Policy
in 1985 after a long and hard struggle. A few years
ago the policy was thought to be outdated by many,
so the struggle for setting up a new youth policy
started.
