International Women's Day 2008 will be observed on Friday, 7 March in Bangkok at the UN Conference Centre with a programme organized by the International Women’s Day Working Group of representatives from various United Nations agencies and offices.

Under the theme of "‘investing in women and girls", this year’s observance will include keynote presentations, a panel dialogue, an exhibition, and a film screening. The 2008 theme highlights the importance of financial and other resources in meeting development targets and implementing programmes to achieve progress for women and girls, as well as the role of women and girls as active agents of change in whom investment has long-term impact.
