The sustainable supply of non-renewable minerals is of increasing concern to the ESCAP region and many members have taken meaningful steps to re-orient their national policies on mineral resources development accordingly.

This publication highlights the need for the new policy orientation and initiatives for mineral resources development, if foreign direct investment flows are to be harnessed. An overview of mineral resource development activities in selected countries of the region is also given.
