The Rio 20 Pacific Preparatory Meeting: Joint Ministerial Conference- 20-21 July 2011 (Apia, Samoa)
The Pacific Preparatory meeting for Rio+20 was held to provide opportunities for Pacific small islands developing states (SIDS) to highlight their priority issues and coordinate their views in advance of the Asia and the Pacific regional Preparatory Meeting in October. The Meeting adopted the "Green economy in a blue world" approach.

The meeting provided an informal forum for an exchange among Ministers, high level officials, and senior policy advisors, with expert inputs on green economy, social development, food security and energy security.
"Green Bridge" Initiative
Endorsed as an outcome of the sixth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Development in Asia and the Pacific held in Astana, Kazakhstan (October 2010). The Initiative aims at a transition to green economy, and the Green Bridge Partnership Programme calls for a multilateral, long-term partnership, a more stable basis for green investments and a technology transfer mechanism.
