International training course on eco-efficient and socially inclusive infrastructure development for local governments in Asia and the Pacific
Hongcheon, Republic of Korea, 19-25 November 2011
ESCAP, UN-HABITAT and the International Urban Training Centre (IUTC) jointly organize the international training course eco-efficient and socially inclusive urban infrastructure development.

 

Objective
The overall objective of this course is to build the capacity of participants in planning and developing infrastructure in an integrated and inclusive way, taking into account eco-efficiency principles and criteria. Such approach will help identify win-win solutions leading to enhanced quality of life and city competitiveness trough environmental improvements.

Specific targets
The training will show professionals from local governments how to:
- Lead, design and inclusively plan and develop eco-efficient infrastructure
- Identify and prioritize actions with multiple benefits
- Make the business case
- Find ideas in good practices
- Assess environmental, economic and social impacts

Expected outcomes
Throughout the course, each participant is expected to finalize a project Implementation Plan for their city, build upon the principles and criteria of eco-efficiency and social inclusiveness. The Implementation plan will be developed during working group sessions and by individual work. During the course, participants will be supported and guided by resource people and provided with practical tools.

Senior professionals from local government (head of urban planning department, head of strategic development department) from the Asian and Pacific Region
