This session discusses the concept of eco-efficient and sustainable infrastructure and its importance in developing more competitive and liveable cities
▷Session 2: State of discussion in applied eco-efficiency concepts, methodologies and practice. Chairperson: Masakazu Ichimura, Chief, Environment and Development Policy Section, ESCAP
This session reviews and discusses conceptual frameworks and available methodologies to integrate eco-efficiency criteria into infrastructure development processes.
▷Session 3: Overview of current practices in Asia.

This session reviews current trends, practices and criteria used to integrate environmental and social aspects into urban infrastructure development processes in Asia, with a view to identifying and assessing strengths and weaknesses of current approaches, and understanding the factors influencing the sustainability of urban infrastructure development patterns.
▷Session 4: Overview of current practices in the Americas
Chairperson: Ricardo Jordán, Economic Affairs Officer, ECLAC
This session reviews current trends, practices and criteria used to integrate environmental and social aspects into urban infrastructure development processes in cities in Latin America, as well in the U.S and Canada, with a view to identifying and assessing strengths and weaknesses of current approaches, and understanding the factors influencing the sustainability of urban infrastructure development patterns.

▷Session 5: Towardsmeasuring eco-efficiency of urban areas.

This session will present efforts of the project to advance in terms of measuring the eco-efficiency of urban areas, and discuss potential indicators and approaches.
▷Session 6: Applying eco-efficiency criteria to infrastructure financing
Chairperson: John Moon, Chief, Transport Policy Section, ESCAP
This session will discuss how eco-efficiency criteria could be integrated into financing mechanisms, how can eco-efficiency criteria be used to develop bankable projects.
▷Session 7: Opportunities and barriers to applying eco-efficiency in urban infrastructure Chairperson: Shaoyi Li, Chief, Energy Security Section
This session will identify opportunities arising from the adoption of eco-efficiency criteria in urban infrastructure development, including in addressing climate change, and what is the potential, and what the barriers, to leveraging carbon financing.
▷Session 8: Review of current practices and experiences
Chairperson: Ricardo Jordán, Economic Affairs Officer, ECLAC
This session and the following one will aim at reviewing current practices and sharing experiences among participating cities, indentifying key challenges and opportunities for installing eco-efficiency principles in the context of the project. The session will review integrated approaches, as well as sectoral experiences. Presentations shall be 10 min each.
