"The Asia-Pacific region has been at the forefront of the world's recent economic growth and activity, enabling many countries to make significant progress in reducing poverty and enhancing the quality of life for their citizens. It has been preparing actively for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, "a major occasion to renew high-level political commitment and cooperation for sustainable development" in the words of the 68th session of the Commission.
The Regional Preparatory Meeting is the region's main preparatory framework for the UNCSD and has led to the adoption of the Seoul outcome Document by consensus. This Seoul Outcome document is the region's main input for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. " |
