Energy trade and cooperation

In the Asia-Pacific region, the energy situation and challenges vary substantially between countries. Some have a considerable unmet demand for electricity, while others are heavily dependent on imported fossil fuels and often suffer from an undiversified energy sector. To enhance energy security, many governments recognize the benefits of cooperating on a subregional level that can share energy resources, increase investment in energy infrastructure and build or strengthen national energy industries.
