How to cut energy costs in public buildings -
a demonstration
in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia (2005-2006)

 

Under the Kitakyushu Initiative for a Clean Environment, a demonstration project on end-use energy-efficiency was implemented in the Khan-Uul District of Ulaanbaatar City, Mongolia, by the District in collaboration with the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, the Ministry of Nature and Environment, local and international consultants and ESCAP. The project undertook an energy-efficiency audit and implemented energy-efficiency measures in the buildings of the District during 2005-2006.

Energy Auditing and Efficiency Demonstration Project in Khan-Uul District Office Buildings

The outcomes of the demonstration project were presented and discussed during an international seminar held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on 9 - 10 May 2006. Participants from Khan-Uul and other districts of Ulaanbaatar City, ministries, other organizations, and media attended the meeting, along with local and national government representatives. International participants included experts on actions to facilitate energy-efficiency action at municipal level from China, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Viet Nam, staff from ESCAP and the Kitakyushu Initiative secretariat, Japan.
