Study visit on Energy Efficiency
Visit to Niigata, Japan, by Senior Energy Sector Officials and Company Representatives from Far East of Russian Federation and Mongolia, 2-9 December 2002
A Study visit of senior energy sector officials and company representatives from countries with economies in transition (Russian Far East, Mongolia) was conducted 2-9 December 2002, in cooperation with Economic Research Institute for North-East Asia, "ERINA", Niigata, Japan.
The objective of the event was to facilitate the exchange of experiences between energy experts of the two countries and Japan on identification and realization of energy efficiency investments. The experts met with their counterparts to discuss and study Japanese experiences in operation and management of power plants. Operational safety, efficiency and environmental issues were discussed.

After introductory lectures by ECCJ and ERINA instructors, the participants from Russian Far East and Mongolia took part in site visits at LNG Power Plant of Tohoku Electric Power Co., Nuclear Power Plant of Tokyo Electric Power Co., Coal Power and Hydro Power Plants of Hokuriku Power Co. and LNG town gas manufacturer of Osaka Gas Co.
The main interests of the visiting participants focused on operation and maintenance of power plants. The participants discussed management of power companies, electricity production costs, construction cost and structures of organizations concerned with generation, transmission and distribution systems.
