Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Principles of government policies

- Under Article 59 of Chapter IV of the Cambodian Constitution the State shall protect the environment and balance of abundant natural resources and establish a precise plan of management of land, water, air, wind, geology, ecological system, mines, energy, petro, and gas, rocks and sand, gems, forests and forestrial products, wildlife, fish and aquatic resources.

1. The provision of this Article is similar to that under many other South Asian countries Constitution, but is more comprehensive in exemplifying particular natural resources that need intense protection. Together with such exemplification this Article tasks the State to establish a precise plan for management of the said resources, in doing so, this provision enhances the strength of the natural resource and environmental management plan since such plan is constitutional.
